LGBTQ+ People Are Not Going Back: My Art in Protest and Solidarity
Antagonizing people is never okay.
I’m a 32 year-old software engineer, writer, and art student, and I’m at a loss for words.
So, in lieu of those, and in solidarity with the trans community, I’ll say it with my art: We are not going back.
We are collateral damage to populism and fear-mongering.
We pawns in a game we never asked to play.
Our experiences, real or imagined, are used as social currency.
We are scapegoats.
We are being actively and callously antagonized, and we deserve protection on that basis alone.
The ongoing and increasing politicization, exploitation, and bullying of transgender people is unacceptable. Period.
Educate yourself, and do not stand for it.
